"Uncovering St. Louis’ Untold Past: The Story of Eliza Rone"

Join us for a special screening of Eliza, a compelling short film that sheds light on the life of Eliza Rone, an enslaved woman who worked for one of St. Louis’ wealthiest families in the mid-1800s. Co-written and co-directed by Delisa Richardson, Eliza brings an essential, often-overlooked piece of history to the screen. Shot on location at the historic Campbell House Museum, this film offers a visually rich and deeply moving portrayal of resilience.

This event is particularly relevant for members of CREW as it not only explores the history of St. Louis’ urban spaces but also highlights the impact of real estate on historical preservation and community storytelling, as Eliza was filmed at the historic Campbell House Mansion/Museum in downtown St. Louis. With a St. Louis native female co-director/co-writer at the helm and a focus on a Black woman’s historical narrative, Eliza is an inspiring look at narrative filmmaking in St. Louis. The screening will be followed by an engaging discussion with Delisa Richardson exploring the role of storytelling in historical spaces and the importance of preservation of these sites.
