Experience the Past in the Present at Cahokia Mound Hike

A Guided Exploration of Cahokia Mounds with Dr. Julie Zimmermann, PhD
Join us for an engaging, place-based learning experience at Cahokia, one of North America’s most significant ancient cities. Whether it's your first visit or you're eager to learn its deeper story, this archaeologist-led tour invites you to connect with the land, its history, and its lasting legacy.
Led by Dr. Julie Zimmermann, a distinguished professor and chair of Anthropology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), you’ll step onto the grounds where thousands lived centuries ago. Dr. Zimmermann brings over 25 years of field experience in Midwestern archaeology, with a PhD in Anthropology from New York University. She is also the author of the influential paper “Rethinking the Ramey State: Was Cahokia the Center of a Theater State?” which reexamines Cahokia not just as a political center, but as a ceremonial hub that drew people through shared ritual and spectacle.
Lunch at Mi Terra Bonita. 3203 Collinsville Road, East St. Louis, IL. Individual pays for themselves.
